Juanita Niemeyer
Juanita Niemeyer is a contemporary artist
working in textured sculptured acrylic, oil, watercolor, and ceramic,
and glass mediums. She enjoys interpreting nature's landscapes and
floral imagery in unique techniques of her own creation, which allows
total freedom of expression. As a result, many private and corporate
collectors in the United States, Denmark, Norway, Africa, Australia,
England, Canada, Mexico and the Philippines have acquired her work.
Juanita combines a variety of techniques to
achieve unusual textural effects. Whether working on glass, ceramic,
paper or canvas, texture and individuality are foremost in her thoughts.
Many of her creations are "one-of-a-kind" and have found their
way into the homes and businesses of discriminating art enthusiasts. Her
last "One Woman Show" was at Paramount Motion Pictures Studio,
Hollywood, California. And, she is a member of both the prestigious
Pasadena Fine Arts Society, Pasadena, California; and The Tehachapi
Valley Arts Association, Tehachapi, California.
In addition to her art, Juanita has authored
several instructional books and manuals for various art trades. Her
book, "Hobby Ceramist's Guide to Finishing Products", she
discusses how to correctly use ceramic decorating products and repairing
media. In her book, "The Elegant World of Sculptured Decorative
Painting", she discusses techniques and projects using her
dimensional and textural decorative painting skills. She wrote a monthly
technical column and numerous "how-to" articles for eleven
years for "Popular Ceramics Magazine" published by Jones
Publishing out of Iola, Michigan.
Juanita taught educational seminars in art
related subjects worldwide. Her art seminar programs have taken her to
Central America, Africa, Europe, England and Indonesia. She teaches fine
art programs through out the United States and has been a guest teacher
at many trade shows over the past years.
At Los Angeles City Mission College, she taught
framing, kiln fired glass and oil painting, and, fired glass,
watercolor, acrylic and oil painting at Every Woman's Village, Van Nuys,
California. She has written and taught Product Certification Seminars
for Ceramichrome, Inc., Stanford, Kentucky; Olivia Colors, Glenburnie,
Maryland; Duncan Enterprises, Fresno, California and Unique Glass
Colors, Logansport, Louisiana. She presently authored and teaches an
on-line fired glass certification program for Unique Glass Colors at
www.firedartsclassroom.com.
This year, 2006, Juanita has authored and is
teaching an art program for Cummings Valley Middle School, Tehachapi,
California. The program introduces the master's of fine arts to the 5th
grade class of Mrs. Sherwood. It is designed to not only encourage them
to explore and discover the wonderful world of art, but to actually work
"hands-on" in the style of the "artist of the month"
we are studying. We will round out our year of study with a field trip
to the Getty Art Museum in the spring of 2007. Juanita will be teaching
adult and children's oil painting classes in Tehachapi, California at
Gallery and Gifts; and at the Art Center also in Tehachapi. She is a
certified teacher of William Alexander's wet on wet style of oil
painting.
Juanita Niemeyer attended the Wichita Art
Institute, Southwestern College, and was awarded a scholarship to the
Hallmark School of Design, in Kansas City, Kansas. While attending
Southwestern College, she was awarded an art scholarship to the
